HOW TO REMOVE COATING FROM GRINDING
MEDIA BALLS OF A CEMENT FINISH GRINDING BALL MILL
Coating on grinding
media of a cement grinding & finish ball mill results in:
a a) Low through put
b b)Poor fineness of cement (blain)
c c) High power consumption.
Recently we encountered
the above mentioned problems at our cement grinding & finish facility. By
close monitoring and internal inspection of grinding media we concluded that
the reason behind the above mentioned problems was due to the heavy coating on
the grinding media balls. While Grinding Aid was also used on routine basis
with addition of water in certain proportion as recommended by manufacturer. By
addition of grinding Aid without water we noticed decrease in coating tendency
on grinding media balls and finally no coating on grinding media found.
Addition of water with grinding aid was causing reversing effect of grinding
media ball coating formation. After removal of coating from grinding media balls,
cement mill grinding efficiency increased by 20% and power consumption decreased
by 12%.
In above Real situation picture, grinding media balls are
shown with coating i.e. grinding Aid addition with water and partially coated
media after addition of Grinding Aid without Water and finally no coating on
grinding media balls is seen I.e. with same Grinding Aid addition without
water.
